We don’t know what we love more: the bright smiles, or hats! Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Jason Aldean look like they’re having an amazing time.

I may not be a Southern girl born and raised in Nashville, but even I can appreciate some good ol’ country music. On Sunday night, artists from every genre flocked to Las Vegas, Nevada in hopes of winning an iconic Academy of Country Music golden hat. This year, the award show was jam-packed with a little bit of everything; ranging from today’s pop/rock-influenced hit singles to the traditional sound of country twang.

While artists Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, and Kacey Musgraves carried home the best trophies, the real showstoppers were hosts Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton! The show started with a medley of jokes at the expense of the audience, and at one point, Shelton even joked that the show was his audition for David Letterman’s job. For starters, let’s talk about the selfie that shook the internet; you know—the one taken by Ellen Degeneres at the Academy Awards?! Well, Shelton and Bryan (who cutely gave themselves the celebrity nickname ‘Bluke’) decided that the ACM crowd wasn’t worthy. Hah, we’d be a little offended if they weren’t so funny. The duo rejected singer Tim McGraw for being boring, and even bypassed Jason Aldean because he wasn’t “popular” enough. ”Honestly,” Shelton joked, “I think we’re the biggest celebrities in the room.”

When it comes to awards, Kacey Musgraves received critical acclaim for her album Same Trailer, Different Park. However, the real reason why the win is such an achievement is because this relative newcomer completely dominated a field where country legends such as Blake Shelton, Florida Georgia Line, and Tim McGraw usually take the gold. To end the award show, ACM honored Merle Haggard with the Crystal Milestone Award.

Maybe country music isn’t your kind of jam, but let’s just agree that these artists sure know how to have a good time!
