Alvin and the Chipmunks
You know, I can never decide which Chipmunk is my favorite. I want to say Alvin with his rocking moves, but then Theodore and his cheeks always make me swoon… Don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about Simon and his brains – he’s just as awesome!

Eh-squeak-me? Am I reading the title correctly… has it seriously been 20 years since the last episode aired? Wow, I remember watching the furry trio every Saturday morning with my brother and parents! Guess I’m a lot older than I thought…

Anyways, the original creators Ross Bagdasarian and Janice Karman are bringing the singing little critters to the small screen in the new show ALVINNN!!! and The Chipmunks! Now, thanks to PGS Entertainment, a Paris-based manager that’s bought the rights to the series, the nutty little dudes will be presented in CGI with new and original songs.

“The Chipmunks are the number one family property and number one characters for kids 6 to 12,” said PGS co-founder-president Philippe Soutter. “The new series produced by the Bagdasarians, together with France’s Genao Prods., has stunning CGI and the original music is fantastic.”

How about a little history on the singing triplets? Well, the chipmunk series began in 1958 when Ross Bagdasarian’s father created “The Chipmunk Song” that sold 4.5 million records in seven weeks. Wow, that’s a lot of records for a musical cover of a Christmas song! After the song’s popularity, the musical munchkins appeared on television in 1961.

When Bagdasarian Sr. passed away, his son Ross Jr. and his wife carried on the tradition. So, fast forward 46 years, and you get the three box office hits created by the couple! If you think it’s sweet that a happily married duo is working together, then it’s about to get cuter. The entire Bagdasarian clan, including their own two children, are involved in the production company that’s currently bringing back the ‘munks to the small screen. Talk about family bonding…

Currently, there are no details on when the episodes will air, but Ross Bagdasarian did throw us a few nutty details. The storylines will revolve around everyday issues like growing up, having embarrassing parents, and dealing with bullying. This sounds like my kind of TV show… not only do I get to hear some awesome singing, but my parents are crazy embarrassing, too! If Alvin, Simon, and Theodore can handle it, then so can I!
