Finally, after a year of speculation and months of anticipation, Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled not one, not two, but three new Apple products in this week’s keynote address: the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and the iWatch! As you can imagine, every single one of the devices left the crowd drooling for a chance to buy the new Apple tech, and after looking over some of the new specs, it’s no wonder why.
The iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch (diagonal) Retina HD display and a .27-inch depth, which makes it slightly larger and thinner than the iPhone 5. The screen is set in a smooth, continuous, and edge-free body, which fits comfortably in your hand. The new phone also has a higher pixel count, making colors brighter, blacks richer, and text crisper than ever before. Thanks to the advanced and energy-efficient A8 processor chip, Apple’s new iOS 8 (operating system) will run faster than ever!
The iPhone 6 Plus is almost like the iPhone 6, just much more enhanced. For starters, it will have a colossal 5.5 inch display, which basically makes it a phablet (“phone” + “tablet”), and features a higher pixel count for the Retina HD display. The massive device leaves room for a battery capable of 24-hour talk time, too. The coolest feature in the iPhone 6 Plus is probably the camera’s optical image stabilization option. This nifty little spec basically means the camera will counterbalance hand movements to keep an image blur-free and picture perfect! No more having to freeze like a statue when taking a photograph!
Naturally, both of the new products will feature what Apple calls the HealthKit – an advanced system that uses gyroscopes, barometers, accelerometers, and a bunch of other trinkets that will monitor and record a user’s fitness levels. In fact, the new iWatch comes with special sensors that will allow for even more accurate health keeping.
Yep, you heard right. There’s going to be an Apple Watch! This smartwatch is similar in size to the iPod nano with multi-touch, only it’s slightly larger and has rounded edges. A dial knob on the right hand side lets a person navigate the interface with impressive accuracy, while simultaneously preventing fingers from blackening the screen. It has all the typical apps one would expect from Apple, like messaging, contacts, and calendars. However, the iWatch spices it up with special sensors on its back panel that can monitor stuff like steps taken, calories burned, and even a heartbeat. The watch straps are highly customizable for any occasion, from a jog at the park to a Hollywood movie premiere.
Apple has really outdone itself with the new products, so there is no doubt the company will beat its old record for most sales in a week. And why wouldn’t they? The company has already set a record for most pre-order sales!
