The Baseball Writers’ Association of America voted 3 new members into the baseball Hall of Fame on Wednesday: Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Frank Thomas. Falling short by two votes, Craig Biggio came close. “Obviously, I’m disappointed to come that close,” said Biggio. “I feel for my family, the organization and the fans. Hopefully, next year.” Maddux earned 555 of 571 ballot votes and his 97.2 percentage was the 8th highest in the history of voting. On July 27, the three players will be formally inducted in Cooperstown, alongside managers Bobby Cox, Joe Torre, and Tony La Russa, who were elected last month.
