Goalkeeper Tim Howard made 16 saves and was named Man of the Match.

After making it to the Round of 16 at the World Cup in Brazil, the USA was knocked out by Belgium on Tuesday in a 2-1 extra time loss. The 120 minute match was fierce, and the Americans felt a surge of hope when Julian Green scored in the 107th minute. Unfortunately, the rally came too late, even after Belgium was forced into extra time following a scoreless tie.

Tim Howard made 16 saves during the game, in what was definitely one of the best performances ever by an American goalkeeper. He was named Man of the Match, but Howard felt very emotional about the loss, expressing, “It’s heartbreaking. I don’t think we could give anymore. It’s heartbreaking. It hurts.”
