Benedict Cumberbatch replacing Brad Pitt in movie?

Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch is rumored to be in talks to replace Brad Pitt in the film Lost City of Z. The movie has been stuck in production for more than four years, and Pitt was first attached to star in the movie around 2008 before deciding to opt out sometime in 2012. Instead, Pitt’s company, Plan B, will work with director James Gray to produce the flick with (hopefully!) Cumberbatch as the lead.

Lost City of Z is based on David Grann’s non-fiction novel that focuses on British explorer Percy Fawcett and his discovery of a mythical lost city in the South American jungle. After Fawcett returned to England to share his discovery, nobody believed him and he set out to prove them wrong by finding the city again. This time, however, he brought along his son to help with the journey. The only problem is that Fawcett and his son never returned back to England. It’s believed that they were lost and most likely killed during the expedition, seeing as their bodies were never found. Uh oh. Talk about a Boy Scout mission gone wrong…

So, while the rumors that Cumberbatch will star in the new Star Wars movie has been debunked by his reps, fans can now keep their fingers cross and hope that this one is true!
