The St. Louis Blues took their 4th straight win on Saturday night, beating the Colorado Avalanche 2-1 in a fierce Central Division showdown. David Backes got the party started after a scoreless game in the second period, while Ryan Miller stopped 26 shots. P.A. Parentau scored the only Colorado goal of the game, making a wrist shot in the third quarter with assists by Matt Duchene and Ryan O’Reilly. The Blues were sitting pretty afterwards, with a league-best 17-0-1 and a 14-in-a-row winning streak against Central Division. As for the Avalanche, rookie forward Nathan MacKinnon’s points streak ended at 13 games, which is still the NHL’s longest by an 18-year-old.
