Is Britney Spears really kissing Hollywood goodbye, and saying hello to the Las Vegas strip? Yep! The former child star, whose biggest jams included “Toxic” and “Oops! I Did It Again,” will perform 50 shows a year at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. The show, Britney: Piece of Me (named after her paparazzi-bashing song “Piece Of Me”), will debut December 27! Her announcement ended the month long speculation on whether or not Spears would follow in the footsteps of other top-selling artists like Celine Dion and Elton John who headlined various hotels in Las Vegas, too.
If you’ve kept tabs on Spears, then you’ll know her road to recovery hasn’t been an easy journey. After a public meltdown, losing custody of her two children, and one too many rehab trips, she officially removed herself from the music industry to focus on getting better. During that time, she disappointed fans by cancelling tours, stopping album releases, and ditching radio and public appearances. Now, Britney says she’s put the past behind her and is fully ready to commit both emotionally and physically to giving the best performance she can. “I’m definitely ready. I sometimes train for five hours a day,” she said.
Spears was all smiles in her Las Vegas interview on ABC’s Good Morning America, praising Nevada living over Hollywood. “I love it here. The energy here is really, really good,” she exclaimed. It’s good to see Spears taking this career boost seriously.
Britney Spears will hit the crowd with a fun-filled performance “one more time” starting December! Tickets for Britney: Piece of Me go on sale September 20 with prices ranging from $59 to $179.
