Spanish Civil War Begins

JULY, 18th, 1936

On this day, 80 years ago, Spanish military officers led by General Francisco Franco rebelled against the government. Within 3 days, they captured Morocco, most of northern Spain, and major cities in the south. Franco won, ruling until death in 1975.
