Cartoon Network is bringing back Tom and Jerry!

Tom and Jerry seem to find themselves in the craziest of predicaments.

Everyone’s favorite cat and mouse, Tom and Jerry, are getting a mega makeover. Cartoon Network is taking the feline antics of Tom Cat and the mousy cleverness of Jerry Mouse, who haven’t changed their look since the 1940s films that debuted them, and bringing them into the HD modern age. So, get ready on April 9, for computer-generated 2D action.

Each episode will feature two 11-minute shorts of Tom doing his usual teeth gnashing as he tries desperately to capture the ingenious Jerry.

The original Tom and Jerry were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, whose Hanna-Barbera Productions would go on to make legendary shows like The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, and The Smurfs.

Recently, Cartoon Network debuted a clip from the upcoming remake, in which The Big Bang Theory’s Simon Helberg and Seinfeld mega star Jason Aexander will lend their voices as Tom’s owner and Jerry’s rat friend, respectively. The new series is produced by Warner Bros., and company vice president Jay Bastian said, “The idea is to honor the old cartoon, so the core of the new Tom and Jerry will still be a cat and mouse trying to beat the stuffing out of each other.”
