Catching Fire and Frozen smash the box office

By Melissa Platero, CCNN Writer

After just 10 days, Hunger Games: Catching Fire has pulled in almost $300 million, and Frozen busted out $93 million over five days and $66.7 million from Friday to Sunday. That means Catching Fire has already passed up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which earned $57.5/$82.4 million in 2001, and Frozen’s already earned back the $150 million it took to make the movie. As for the original Hunger Games, it made $408 million total in America, and its sequel already seems well on the way to shattering that total in just the first month.
