After Week 1, with highly-ranked teams getting roughed up by low-hanging fruit, it’s clear that this season is completely up for grabs.

The college football season has kicked off, and Week 1 proved that everyone’s a bit rusty. There are no obvious contenders yet, including the defending national champs, No. 1-ranked Florida State Seminoles. When FSU took on the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Saturday, what should have been an easy match turned into a hard-won 37-31 victory.

Even the No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide faced tough resistance in its 33-23 conquest of the West Virginia Mountaineers. As for the No. 7 UCLA Bruins, their offense got a mean dose of the Virginia Cavaliers’ defense when they struggled to eke out a 28-20 win.

Then, one of the greatest surprises came when the No. 9 South Carolina Gamecocks were crushed by the No. 21 Texas A&M Aggies in a brutal 52-28 loss. Ouch! Even their coach, Steve Spurrier, was left scratching his head in confusion. What about the No. 5 Ohio State Buckeyes? They put in a solid performance against the Navy Midshipmen, with a 34-17 triumph that felt like they were just starting to warm up.
