Costa Rica’s coach, Jorge Luis Pinto, was ecstatic about the win.

The 10-man Costa Rica team made their nation proud on Sunday when they defeated Greece 5-3 in a penalty shootout.

In the epic round of 16 match, Bryan Ruiz put Costa Rica in the lead, but then Sokratis Papastathopoulos evened the field.

After 90 minutes, it was tied 1-1, sending the game into extra time. However, neither of the teams scored in extra time, and so it was left to the brick wall goalkeeping of Keylor Navas to halt Greece’s penalty kicks, while Michael Umaña sealed the deal with the 5th winning kick.

This is the first time ever that Costa Rica has made it to the quarterfinals, and they’ll be facing off against the Netherlands on Saturday, July 5.
