In case of emergency boredom, read a Dr. Seuss book!

Do you like Green Eggs and Ham? What about reading The Lorax after a snack of toast and jam? Well, if you know every word to Horton Hears a Who! then the publishing company, Random House, has a treat for you! Okay, I’m out of rhymes… plus, those lines took a lot of thinking time. Anyways, the classic works of Dr. Seuss are getting a digital upgrade! At the end of this month, 15 of his short stories will be converted into electronic books (ebooks) and put on sale, while the remaining titles will be available on October 22 and November 5.

Barbara Marcus, president and publisher at Random House Children’s Books, explained the company’s history and partnership with Dr. Seuss. “Random House Children’s Books and Dr. Seuss Enterprises have been publishing partners for decades. I am so pleased to announce the start of an exciting new chapter in our long and thriving relationship, as we embark on expanding the Dr. Seuss reading experience together with ebooks,” she said. “We are delighted that today’s parents, their children, and educators can now add Dr. Seuss’s classics to their digital bookshelves, joining the cherished hardcovers that we have all grown up with.”

Now, if you’re wondering whether or not the digital copies will include his wacky and whimsical upside-down drawings, then the answer to your question is yes! All the digital copies will include the original layout and illustrations, along with the option of purchasing a “read and listen” format. The only thing Random House forgot to mention is where we can buy the new books. So, around September, keep an eye on websites like Amazon and Apple iBooks!

As someone who grew up with the wisdom of Dr. Seuss, it’s nice to see that his life lessons and rhymes aren’t getting left behind in the dust of the rising ebook market. There is no one quite like Dr. Seuss, who will teach you the joys of being special and unique by saying, “Today you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
