Have you ever seen a person with such clear skin, you doubt they’ve even heard the word “pimple?” Well, I’ll let you in on a little secret. A person doesn’t have to be born with nice skin to have a beautiful complexion, they just have to eat the right foods! Here are a few that will keep skin smooth and supple.
Strawberries! These delicious fruits contain more vitamin C than oranges. A study from the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that people who regularly consume vitamin C have healthier looking skin than those who don’t! Pick up a pack of strawberries on the next supermarket trip, or if there are already some in the house, gobble them right up. If you’re like me, you may find strawberries a little bit too sour to enjoy, so make a smoothie! Mix 1 cup of strawberries, plain yogurt, ice, and 2 teaspoons of honey into a blender for a refreshing treat.
Ahh, but summer is practically over, so a cold smoothie may not be the best idea. In that case, a comforting cup of green tea should do the trick. This hot beverage contains a chemical known as an antioxidant, which protects the skin from sun damage and cancer! According to Dr. Madelyn Fernstrom from the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, three big mugs of green tea per day should provide a substantial antioxidant boost.
Well, green tea isn’t the only product in the market with antioxidants. Olive oil is packed with the chemical, and you don’t even have to eat it! “Ancient Romans massaged olive oil into their skin,” said Dr. Nicholas Perricone, a dermatologist. “When used topically, olive oil results in smoother, more radiant skin.” The oil works great as a lip gloss and even better as a skin moisturizer. Dabble a pea-sized amount onto dry skin until it’s silky soft.
A few more basic ways to keep your skin looking fresh is to cut down on the soda, to guzzle plenty of water every day, and to get plenty of beauty sleep at night. These simple, yet effective tips, will clear your skin right up!
