Forbes releases 2014’s highest-paid actors list

Gatsby
Leonardo DiCaprio played two extremely rich characters this past year, including Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby.

Forbes just loves publishing lists of mega celebs, ranking which of them has the most influence over the public and who brings in the most money. Now, they’ve unleashed the 2014 rankings for the biggest-earning actors, based on who raked in epic quantities of dough between June 2013 and June 2014.

Robert Downey Jr., the Iron Man himself, racked up enough bling to earn the crown at number one. I guess playing billionaire Tony Stark in the popular Marvel movies is beginning to rub off in real life! Then again, you can bet that Disney is paying him megabucks because it was the original Iron Man in 2008 that really got the ball rolling for The Avengers films. Although the Captain America and Thor sequels have done well for themselves, no one can touch the man with a heart of gold… or should I say, ARC reactor? Since Iron Man 3 was the highest-grossing movie of 2013 with $1.2 billion at the box office, we get it! RDJ is the man.

Speaking of action heroes and tough guys, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is cracking his diamond-edged knuckles at the number two spot. With blockbusters like G.I. Joe and Fast and Furious, he’s smashing that bank account with $52 million big ones. He’s already reaching the heights of godhood with Hercules this year, and will be shaking things up in 2015’s earthquake flick San Andreas, so you can count on a Rock-solid mountain of Benjamins in the near future.

G.I. Joe
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson may not be getting an Oscar anytime soon, but he definitely has mega star power.

Then, on a more serious acting note, there’s Bradley Cooper’s third place $46 million (being in third never felt so rich). With flicks like Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle that each scored him Oscar nominations, and his voice acting for Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy, this blue-eyed fox is just getting started. And speaking of blue-eyed charmers, Leonardo DiCaprio made the number four spot at $39 million, thanks to The Wolf of Wall Street and The Great Gatsby. It just so happens he played mega-millionaires in both movies! How appropriate. Lastly, Chris Hemsworth thundered into 5th place with $37 million thanks to his hammer-throwing, lightning-casting Thor flick.

In the final five spots are Liam Neeson at $36 million, Ben Affleck and Christian Bale at $35 million, and then Will Smith and Mark Wahlberg at $32 million. If ladies were allowed on this list, you know who would have landed third place with her $47 million this past year? 34-year-old supermodel Gisele Bundchen, who basically earned the equivalent of $128,000 a day! I bet she’s thinking “Who needs acting skills?”
