High-definition (HD) technology brings crisp, ultra-sharp visuals into the comfort and convenience of your living room or the palm of your hand. Now, companies like LG are taking HD screens to the next level, with their paper-thin TV panels that can be rolled into tubes like a newspaper!
LG has announced that it will create a 60-inch Ultra HD rollable TV by 2017. They already unveiled their first flexible TV this year at the Consumer Electronics Show, and Samsung is also working on their own version. LG’s bendy screen has an impressive resolution of 1,200 x 810, which doesn’t lower in quality even after you roll it up into a 3-centimeter cylinder shape.
Okay, so what’s the point of these screens, other than impressing your friends with rubbery HD technology? Well, just imagine the convenience of taking your TV on the go, by rolling it up and putting it into your backpack! Also, these paper-thin screens can fit into corners, opening up countless possibilities for where you can watch TV. Not only can this make HD TV easier to set up in cars, planes, and trains, but companies are already looking at adapting it for smartphones, tablets, and wearables. Soon, you’ll be catching your favorite show on a bendable HD screen that wraps around your wrist!
