Movie lovers around the greater Los Angeles area, prepare to experience the theaters like never before! A south Korean company named CJ Group is bringing their 4DX theater technology to the Regal Cinemas LA Live Stadium 14 in downtown Los Angeles, and it will leave audiences shaken, splashed, and thoroughly entertained.
In addition to the typical 3D movie experience offered in many cinemas today, the 4DX tech promises to immerse moviegoers in a 4D experience. Yes, we’re talking way beyond HD and 3D goggles here. This includes moving seats to jostle people during action-packed sequences (hold onto that popcorn), fog effects for an air of mystery, and odors spritzed into the air. But, the fun doesn’t stop there!
The experience also includes wind, bubbles, lightning flashes, and the occasional squirt of water, all of which are lined up to match at specific times during the flick to enhance the viewer’s experience.
The 4D tech has already been introduced in a handful of countries across the world, and each theater costs around $1.5 – $2 million to build. The Korean company naturally decided to use LA to introduce their tech because it’s kind of the capital of the film industry. What better place to introduce the future of theaters than Hollywood itself?
Tickets for 3D movies can get pricy enough on their own, but there’s no word yet on how much the 4D experience will cost.
