Hollywood supports Ben Affleck in Batman role

Now, just imagine that those are chandeliers in Wayne Manor, Affleck has a haircut, and there’s a Batmobile to his right. See? It could work.

“Leave Ben Affleck alone! He doesn’t deserve all this hate!” is what Hollywood stars are collectively screaming in defense of Affleck’s Batman casting. Over the course of a week, various social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, have exploded with well-named celebs and directors chiming in to state their opinions.

“Remember Ben, with the cape and cowl comes great responsibility (and lots of heat). Bring deodorant. #batman @BenAffleck,” tweeted Adam West, the star who played Batman in the 60s TV show. Now, if that word of advice isn’t persuasive enough to give Ben a chance, then maybe this mask-wearing vigilante will convince you. “Give Ben a chance!” cried Val Kilmer, and by cry we mean he tweeted with an exclamation point to show his enthusiasm. Kilmer, for those of you who may be a little confused, was the caped crusader in the 1995 Tim Burton adaptation, Batman Forever.

We have two stars from the Batman franchise offering their support, but what about the other big names in the superhero biz? Marvel man, Joss Whedon, has him covered, too. “Affleck’ll crush it. He’s got the chops, he’s got the chin – just needs the material. Affleck & Cavill toe to toe – I’m in,” he wrote.

There you have it, superfans. The man who brought you the successful superhero movie, The Avengers, has spoken. It is done. Ben Affleck may not be your ideal first choice, but we have a feeling he’ll rise to the occasion and prove us all wrong.
