Summer’s on its way and so is that blasted heat! As much fun as it is to run around outside, on the beach, by the pool or on a grassy field, it’s very important to make sure you stay healthy.
There’s this little thing called dehydration – when you don’t have enough water, you aren’t hydrated enough. Because of the heat, people start sweating a whole heck of a lot more, and as you sweat, your heart rate goes up too. This can stress your heart out if you don’t drink enough water, so if you want to keep your heart super healthy and avoid fainting, it’s really important to keep guzzling that deliciously cool water.
Now, it’s not just water that’s important. There’s something called “electrolytes” you should keep up high. An example of an electrolyte is potassium, which is a mineral found in bananas.
So, eat a banana in the morning if you can and take some water with you before you start going crazy outside under the hot Sun.
Other tips include making sure you’re not feeling dizzy and that your skin doesn’t feel cold. If you experience any of these sensations while being out in the heat, it’s a sign that you may have taken things too far. Just relax for a bit in the shade and hit the drinking fountain.
