Looks like this boy band isn’t saying bye bye bye forever! Rumors about an *NSYNC reunion at the MTV Video Music Awards have been circulating the Internet since MTV announced *NSYNC’s Justin Timberlake would receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The Video Vanguard Award, also known as the Lifetime Achievement Award, is given to musicians who have had a profound effect on MTV culture. Who better to help JT celebrate than his best buddies?!
Now, MTV hasn’t made any official statement, and neither have any of Timberlake’s representatives. However, *NSYNC’s Lance Bass told fans some interesting news on his Sirius XM radio show last night. “Now, I have to address the rumors, of course. This morning I woke up to a lot of rumors flying that the *NSYNC reunion is happening after eleven years at the VMAs this Sunday. Well, let me tell you how this all came about. Justin Timberlake is getting the Michael Jackson Vanguard Award this Sunday at the awards, so of course people are automatically going to think we’re going to be there performing, but this is exactly how it happened and I knew these rumors were going to fly,” he said.
Bass also continued by saying that the rumors most likely started after he posted a picture of him and bandmates JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, and Chris Kirkpatrick watching Timberlake’s show on his Instagram account.
“It’s amazing to see the reaction out there on Twitter and social media of how many people really are supporting *NSYNC,” Bass concluded. “It’s so nice to see because when we ended things ten years ago, there was no social media. There was no Twitter fans, that type of stuff, but it’s so cute to see how many people are supporting it and *NSYNC was even trending.”
If you think about it, Bass never denied an appearance, right? Let’s hope they’ll surprise us at the MTV Video Music Awards with a medley of their best hits. Tune into MTV this Sunday August 25 at 9pm.
