Jennifer Lawrence is well-known around Hollywood for her role as Katniss, but now she’s taking on another challenging role! The actress is reuniting with The Hunger Games director Gary Ross for an East of Eden remake, John Steinbeck’s novel that was turned into a film in 1955. Ross is taking it a step further, and splitting the book into two full-length features.
Wow, did J-Law really need to get involved in another multi-movie series? Hm, maybe not, but it’s hard to say no when you’re specifically chosen for the role. The director was so amazed by her performances in The Hunger Games, that he just had to have his buddy on another production!
Based on the 1952 Steinbeck novel, the story revolves around a father and two sons in California’s Salinas Valley. Nothing seems out of the ordinary, until they start uncovering dark secrets about their dead mother who may actually (gasp) still be alive! Lawrence will play Cathy Ames, the cold and cruel mother of the boys and wife of the farmer. The films will tell their stories, the rivalry between their children, and the murderous mystery!
There is currently no release date, or word on whether this will interrupt filming for the newest Hunger Games adaptation. We’ve seen Gary Ross and Jennifer Lawrence in action before, so this movie is bound to be a hit!
