Goalie Jonathan Quick was a wall of ice against the onslaught of the Sharks, shutting them out in a 1-0 LA Kings victory on Monday. He made 23 saves against San Jose, who’d won 6 straight games and scored 17 goals leading up to the game. Thanks to Anze Kopitar’s goal in the late second period, the Kings were finally able to break out of their 5 game losing streak by night’s end. It was also the first time since December 27, 2010 that the Kings won a regular-season game in San Jose. “We needed one like this to break out of the slump,” said Kopitar. “Sometimes you need a game or an opponent like San Jose, a heavy game, playoff-type atmosphere. There was certainly that out there, and we were able to get the two points.”
