After just 5 games, the Los Angeles Kings have defeated the New York Rangers, going 4-1 in a rather one-sided Stanley Cup series. Alec Martinez sealed the deal 14:43 into the second overtime on Friday, leading the Kings to a 3-2 victory in Game 5.
This is the second Stanley Cup win for the Kings in 3 years, and they gathered for a big group hug near the Rangers’ net.
It wasn’t an easy road to the championship win, though, as the Kings had to fight past 3 straight 7-game series to survive the Western Conference. The Rangers also put up a tough fight, especially in the final game, which was their longest ever in franchise history.
