LeBron’s 61-point game inspires Marvel illustration

Alright, I’m a fan of the black mask he wore last week, but this one? A bit too “masquerade ball” for my taste.

After Miami Heat’s LeBron James ignited the Charlotte Bobcats on Monday night with a 61-point performance, Marvel Comics couldn’t resist illustrating him in true heroic fashion.

Considering he’s already busting out a face mask to protect his healing nose, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

Looking like some kind of Captain America basketball champion, James can now officially call himself a superhero.

The drawing was designed by Greg Land, who’s known for his work on Marvel’s Uncanny X-Men. The epic artwork isn’t too much of a surprise, considering that on Wednesday, James had remarked, “I’ve been talking to Marvel Comics for the last couple of days, and DC Comics, to try to come up with one of the greatest masks of all time.”
