Look over there! Is it a bird?! Is it a plane?! No, it’s actually the Internet bat signal! If there’s one way to get the Internet to go crazy, it’s Batman. First, we had the crazy uproar over Ben Affleck’s casting, and now we have the pitchforks and torches going after DC for a different reason. After a Latin website reported that Bryan Cranston would appear in six to ten different DC movies, including Batman vs. Superman, as the supervillain Lex Luthor, the news spread like wildfire onto different websites.
However, on Tuesday, MSN Entertainment’s Parallel Universe reporter, Don Kaye, put a stop to the rumor by writing, “Despite the story getting picked up by numerous mainstream media outlets, there is not one shred of truth to it. It originated with a fan website that has been known for printing sheer fabrications to score hits – which is why we won’t name the site or link to it here.” Harsh, but maybe Keith Olbermann was right when he said journalism is dead. Is it worth the hits if you’re known for being phony?
Anyways, how about we talk location?! Yesterday, Batfans got a quick tease on the whereabouts of filming. Director Zack Snyder may transform Detroit into Metropolis for the upcoming Batman vs. Superman. “Detroit is a great example of a quintessential American city, and I know it will make the perfect backdrop for our movie,” Snyder said in a statement. “Detroit and the entire state of Michigan have been fantastic collaborators, and we are looking forward to working together on this film.”
The film is already in pre-production and is scheduled for a July 2015 release. Darnit! That’s almost two years away. Guess we’ll just have to keep our eyes open for any new information or trailers. At least we have that to look forward to.
