Imagine being able to bend an ultra high-definition smartphone screen! How would the colorful lights that shine from the glass still display the twisting images beautifully?
Well, the LG Corporation, a company that specializes in electronics, has found a way to combine flexible video abilities with organic light-emitting diode (OLED) quality visuals.
OLE-what? Basically, OLED mixes organic (natural) materials with synthetic (man-made) light-emitting tech to create crisp imagery. To really make the advanced power come alive, LG has already invented bendable OLED TVs that truly draw you in.
Now, they’re showing off their high-tech skills even more by developing flexible and unbreakable smartphone displays. Mass production has begun for the 6-inch OLED smartphones, which will apparently come with the upcoming G Flex expected to be announced in November.
However, besides the coolness factor of whipping out a bendable phone, it’s unlikely that many customers will want to put up with weirdly shaped gadgets jabbing their legs from inside pants pockets. Also, imagine how hard texting someone’s going to be when the screen refuses to sit still! These concerns might be nothing more than our own ignorance of the tech, but we’ll just have to wait and see when more information becomes available.
