Livescribe’s smartpen translates ink into pixels

As the man is writing on Livescribe’s special notebook with the Livescribe 3 smartpen, anything he jots down is saved on the iPad within seconds.

Sometime, it’s really frustrating to take notes in class. More times than not, the teacher is speaking much faster than you can physically write, and when you get home to study, there are a lot of important notes that weren’t jotted down. Well, with an iPad and the Livescribe 3 smartpen, you’ll never have to worry about that ever again!

The smartpen looks like an overly fancy, sleek, and expensive gadget, but the reality is far more valuable. You see, Livescribe comes with a special notebook that transforms the words you write on it into a digital version that can be read on an iPad. What really comes in handy is Livescribe 3’s ability to use an iPad’s microphone to record while writing. So, even if you don’t have a chance to write down everything the professor is saying, there’s a lecture waiting to be listened to at home later!

Don’t have an iPad? No problem. The pen works just fine with the iPhone 4s and iPhone 5 devices, in addition to 5th generation iPods. Taking notes has never been easier with Livescribe 3, and at $149.00, it’s not too pricey an item for hardcore students to add to their Christmas list. Okay, maybe it is a bit expensive, but if you have extra cash lying around and want to ace those classes, Livescribe is a sparkly addition to your toolkit. Now, if only they could invent a pen that takes notes on its own…
