Up, up and away forever? Is Man of Steel the only movie universe where we’ll see Henry Cavill’s Superman or is there a high chance that he’ll hit the big screen in a Justice League film?
Don’t tell me you haven’t heard of the Justice League… you know, the DC Comics ultimate supergroup. Kind of like how rival company Marvel Comics has The Avengers. Featuring a heroic team of fan favorites like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, Justice League has tons and tons of comic book lore to draw on for inspiration.
Intergalactic (and even interdimensional) epic battles are just waiting to rise from the popular comics and animated television series into the world of live action awesomeness!
Talks of a Justice League production have been kept on the down low for years, and not once has it ever been truly confirmed. Many fans are now wondering if Man Of Steel’s extreme success is the big cosmic sign needed to get production going on a Justice League flick. After all, Man of Steel has recently hit the half-billion mark internationally, earning around $250 million domestically in the US, and $270 million in foreign sales. That’s after just 2 weeks!
When asked about whether or not he’d return to the big screen as Superman, Man of Steel star Henry Cavill had a lot to say.
“Justice League could be great if done correctly,” said Cavill. “It’s a very tough one to do because the DC Comic heroes are all god-like in their power. So in this real-world universe, real-world setting we’re telling our story in, it’s going to be tough to achieve that. It has to be done very delicately, with a lot of thought. So, it won’t be right away. I hope it’s not, anyway. It may take some time of building up other movies and other characters and introducing them together in one way or another.”
So, sorry Metropolis and Gotham City citizens; the Justice League won’t be swooping in with a red cape or hurling batarangs anytime soon on the sam silver screen. We’ll keep our fingers crossed, though, and hope that they’ll band together to battle the likes of Darkseid, the Joker, Brainiac, and Lex Luthor. Now, here’s the real question… when are we going to see Wonder Woman on the big screen?!
