Any self-respecting Marvel fan knows who Stan Lee is. Heck, even DC diehards know Stan Lee. You know… the guy who created Spider-Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, and dozens of other legends… the guy who took Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.
Well, Lee, who loves making a cameo appearance in Marvel movies, is finally taking center stage in the upcoming animated Stan Lee’s Mighty 7 (SLAM 7).
The plot is humorously tongue-in-cheek, with Lee starring as a character who teaches two groups of aliens how to become a superhero team, all the while using them to write comic books.
Lee explains, “SLAM 7 is the first reality style comic books series and the first superhero project from Stan Lee Comics. We’re combining fantasy and reality, comedy and adventure for a superhero series unlike anything I’ve created before. These incredible actors have brought these alien superheroes to life even better than I could have imagined… if that’s even possible!”
Planned as a trilogy, SLAM 7 will begin with a monthly comic book, three feature-length films, and an animated television series, debuting in 2015. Stan Lee will be voicing himself, while the rest of the talented cast features Teri Hatcher as Silver Skylark (a flying superhero), Armie Hammer as Strong Arm (a super strength hero), Christian Slater as Lazer Lord (who shoots laser energy), Sean Austin as Kid Kinergy (who can move objects with his mind), Flea as Roller Man (who can inflate into a big rolling ball), Mayim Bialik as Lady Lightning (who can travel with super speed) and Darrin Criss as Micro (who can become tiny).
