Mississippi, Ohio State, and Marshall start October strong

MSU’s Dak Prescott put in a Heisman-worthy performance.

College football is charging headlong into October, with some of last year’s losers looking very much like this year’s winners.

The Bulldogs are now 5-0, after Mississippi State beat down the Aggies in a fierce 48-31 win. Their impressive defense continues to outshine the rest of the SEC, and they managed to hold off a 14-point rally from Texas A&M in the final 3 minutes. Mississippi quarterback Dak Prescott is already looking to be a Heisman contender, after throwing 2 touchdowns and running for three.

Then, the Ohio State Buckeyes overcame their rocky efforts against the Navy and Virginia Tech, by landing a solid 52-24 victory against the Maryland Terrapins. Freshman J.T. Barrett pulled off an impressive 533 yards of offense against the Terrapins and scored 5 times during the match.

In another solid showing, the Marshall Thundering Herd mounted a brutal 28-0 lead against the Old Dominion Monarchs in just the first 10 minutes of their game, before crushing them in a 56-14 landslide rout. Considering the contender-free schedule coming up for the Herd, they just might enter the postseason undefeated!
