Veronica Mars concluded in 2007, with Season 3 leaving many questions unanswered. The CW channel hit series featuring a young female detective, Veronica Mars (played by Kristen Bell), was a fan favorite for many. For those viewers who didn’t get their fill, “Scrubs” actor Zach Braff put together a Veronica Mars fundraising project on Kickstarter.com.
The Kickstarter campaign for Veronica Mars caused no small amount of controversy, since Kickstarter is usually used by the “little guys” (like you and me) who want to raise money for their humble projects. Many criticized Braff for taking attention away from the smaller people who don’t have Hollywood access, prompting Kickstarter to respond by saying that big projects like Veronica Mars bring new people to the fundraising site who’d never contributed before.
In case you’re curious, Veronica Mars raised over $5 million dollars on Kickstarter for its upcoming movie! News keeps pouring in now about which beloved stars from the TV series will be making a big screen appearance. Krysten Ritter and Ryan Hansen, who played the characters Gia and Richard Casablancas, are the latest confirmed in an e-mail sent to Kickstarter contributors from creator and executive producer Rob Thomas. They will be joining original cast members Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Tina Majorino (Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Chris Lowell (Stosh “Piz” Piznarski), and Francis Capra (Eli “Weevil” Navarro).
The film’s story will take place at Veronica’s 10-year high school reunion, and as you can imagine, she will get sucked into solving a crime mystery!
