Hobbit vs. Hunger Games
Will one ring rule them all or will a certain lady archer dwarf the competition?

Just when you thought movie awards season was over, with the Oscars fading away in the rearview mirror alongside the Golden Globes, British Academy Film Awards, and a half dozen others, there’s the MTV Movie Awards on the horizon! Set to air on April 13, the MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien. On Thursday, the nominees were announced, with American Hustle and The Wolf of Wall Street leading the pack.

Non-traditional movie award categories include Best Villain, Best Hero, Best Fight, Best Kiss, and… Best Shirtless Performanc?! Up for the top honor of the evening, Movie of the Year, are the films 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and The Wolf of Wall Street.

Best Female Performance nominees include American Hustle’s Amy Adams, Jennifer Aniston from We’re the Millers, Sandra Bullock of Gravity, the bow-wielding Jennifer Lawrence from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o of 12 Years a Slave.

As for Best Male Performance, there’s The Wolf of Wall Street himself, Leonardo DiCaprio, American Hustle’s Bradley Cooper, Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey from Dallas Buyers Club, Chiwetel Ejiofor of 12 Years a Slave, and… Josh Hutcherson from The Hunger Games: Catching Fire… not sure what’s going on with that last one, sorry Hutcherson!
