On Saturday, several teams carved themselves a more certain path towards the Bowl Championship Series. The USC Trojans scored 41 points by halftime against Cal’s Golden Bears, before finishing them handily in a 62-28 win. The last time they scored 41 points, it was when Arizona State scored 62 and ex-coach Lane Kiffin lost his job. Now, under the guidance of temp coach Ed Orgeron, the Trojans are more seriously back in the Rose Bowl race. As for the UCF Knights, their recent narrow wins against Penn State, Louisville, and the Houston Cougars on Saturday, have inched them closer to the BCS. The Wisconsin Badgers, meanwhile, now have a 7-2 record after their 27-17 win against the BYU Cougars.
