If you can’t get enough of Nickelodeon’s crazy and kooky TV antics, then get prepared for this next announcement! The network is producing seven new shows that are coming out in the next few years. “All these projects represent fresh, new creative voices from diverse backgrounds who want to make great, funny content for kids,” said Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon’s president of content development and production.”We are very excited about adding two new original animated series to our upcoming slate, and we have very high hopes for these live-action pilots and the new talent we are bringing on board.”
Let’s start with the cartoons! Bad Seeds is all about Harvey, a sweet bird, that is best friends with Fee and Foo, the wildest animals in the forest. Despite the unlikely friendship, their connection only grows as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into endless adventures! Next up is Pig Goat Banana Cricket. Uh, well that’s kind of a weird name, but let’s see what it’s about. Four friends and roommates with extremely different personalities must learn to live with one another. You know, I might have judged this show too early. Living with roommates in college has taught me a lot about dealing with all kinds of people…
Now, how about the live-action pilots?! Though Nick hasn’t settled on a name just yet, Twang is a comedy series about a family that moves from Hollywood to run a diner in Tennessee. After living in the city lights of California for so long, they start to notice just how different life is in the South.
Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Don is another family-based series coming at you later in the year! What’s worse than having a crazy brother? Having three identical twin brothers that make life extremely difficult.
Ever wondered what it’s like to be a child genius? Then Smart Alec is right up your alley. Where else can you enjoy intelligent, sarcastic 13-year-olds without wanting to tear your own hair out?
Though this next comedy has yet to be named, Nick is writing about a perky head cheerleader named Bella whose life in Texas takes an unexpected twist. I really wish they’d give us more details, because these vague descriptions are only making me crazy! Well, maybe that was their plan all along, because now I’m going to check back every day to find out more.
Okay, if these little teasers aren’t enough, then Nick is tossing us a bone with The Thundermans. Premiering sometime this year, the show is a superhero-themed comedy about a family of twin siblings. Now, it doesn’t matter if Max and Lisa share the same DNA, because they are nothing alike; she’s a straight-A student who looks forward to being a superhero someday, but her brother is a… supervillain! Bet you didn’t see that one coming, huh?
Anyways, Nickelodeon has not given official release dates for any of the shows, but promises they will come out very soon!
