Oprah Winfrey is celebrating her 60th birthday! The incredible Winfrey has been ranked the richest African-American of the 20th century, the greatest black philanthropist (do-gooder) in American history, is North America’s only black billionaire, has been assessed as the most influential woman in the world, and her The Oprah Winfrey Show was the highest-rated program of its kind in history.
“Some days the awareness of the sanctity and sacredness of life brings me to my knees with gratitude,” she wrote in the recent issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. “I’m still trying to wrap my head around the idea that the little girl from Mississippi who grew up holding her nose in an outhouse now flies on her own plane—my own plane!—to Africa to help girls who grew up like her.”
For over 30 years, she’s broken countless barriers, but Winfrey believes her highest achievement is having an open heart.
Reflecting on her 60th birthday, Winfrey feels deeply grateful for life’s blessings. She expressed, “I approach this milestone, the landmark of 60, with humility, supreme thanksgiving, and joy. Knowing for sure grace has brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.” What a classy and wise woman!
