Post-Oscar boost for Ellen, blues for Travolta

Travolta
Travolta felt rather sheepish after the Oscars.

As the Academy Awards fade into the dwindling Hollywood starlight of “that’s-so-last-week”, the post-Oscar spotlight shined mega popularity on host Ellen… and burned an embarrassing red on John Travolta’s sculpted cheekbones. See, Ellen’s hilarious performance at the Oscars included a twitter selfie pic of her and several A-list celebs, which quickly became the most retweeted photo ever on Sunday night! John Travolta, however, had a less spectacular showing – he flubbed the name of Frozen’s “Let It Go” singer Idina Menzel, calling her “Adele Dazeem”.

Travolta’s mistake led to a host of “Travolta-ize your name” generators on the internet, where you could type in your name and watch it come back up in mangled form.  The 60-year-old Travolta, who doesn’t look a day over 50, apologized later by saying, “I’ve been beating myself up all day.” Travolta reflected on what Idina Menzel would think of his mistake, jokingly (and wishfully) remarking, “She’d say, let it go, let it go!” Frozen won two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for “Let It Go”.

The already popular Ellen has enjoyed a surge of mega popularity after hosting the Oscars, with her Ellen talk show earning record-breaking ratings in its first post-Oscars episode. On the highly-rated episode, she talked to Oscar-winning actors Cate Blanchett, Jared Leto, and Lupita Nyong’o, as well as the pizza delivery guy she called in the middle of the show, who’s now earned $1,000 in tips! As for Ellen’s Oscar twitter pic, which included Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Kevin Spacey, Bradley Cooper, Lupita Nyong’o, Angelina Jolie, Channing Tatum, and Jennifer Lawrence, has been retweeted over 3 million times.
