Producer of Harry Potter movie spinoff talks Fantastic Beasts

David Heyman has produced all 8 Harry Potter films!

Can you believe it’s been three weeks since J.K. Rowling (JKR) announced that her book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was getting a film adaptation?! Well, I definitely remember waking up, checking the internet, and scaring my puppy because I screamed so loudly! Even the “head witch” herself is over the moon about bringing the wizarding universe back to the big screen. Anyways, it doesn’t matter if you’re a curious little Hufflepuff or a slimy Slytherin… just about every Potterhead is equally excited for the upcoming flick.

David Heyman, the producer of all eight original Harry Potter movies, enthused, “It’s incredibly exciting,” before adding that he’s glad JKR is on board. “She doesn’t have to go back to this world, but something pulled her back. This is not Harry Potter. This is not Harry, Ron, and Hermione. This is a separate story within a universe related to the Potter universe.”

Okay, so it’s been a month… and I think it’s high time that the producers give us some details about the crazy and outrageous magical creatures we’ll see in the film! Unfortunately, Heyman had no such information on the critters, but did say Rowling was not short on beastly ideas. “The fact that she’s going to this world means there are stories to tell,” he said. “When I was doing the Harry Potters, what was clear to me is that Jo’s knowledge of this world is infinite. What you read in the books was just the surface of her knowledge. She had notebook upon notebook of stuff. I would call her and say, ‘What’s the sixth use of dragon’s blood?’ and she’d have it at her fingertips.”

What I would give to get an inside look inside Rowling’s creative mind…

Anyways, it seems like producers and JKR are keeping everything hush-hush for now. I, however, am giving the production team another month before I bring out the wand and demand some more facts!
