In Epic, the teen superhero’s weakness is cute girls!

Every year, on the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Book Day brings together millions of Americans to nab freebies at their local comic book shops! Everyone from Marvel to DC gets in on the action with participating stores, encouraging folks to dive into their beautifully illustrated pages of heroes, villains, and mischief. What better way to get newcomers and veterans hooked on the latest issues, than handing them out at no cost?

In case you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the choices, there’s definitely a few series you should check out. Epic, for instance, features a dorky teen superhero who loses his powers whenever he’s in the presence of beautiful girls. Sounds hilarious! Then, if you’re excited about the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie from Marvel, follow Rocket Raccoon’s solo adventure in the special edition issue made just for Free Comic Book Day.

Prefer cats over raccoons? Then scratch that itch with Scratch 9, about a scientifically enhanced cat that can use his nine lives to gain powerful abilities. Or, if that’s too plain for you, The Intrinsic: Singularity Zero brings together an immortal demon hunter, a ballerina who can read minds, and more zany characters to protect Earth from supernatural baddies. Lastly, if you like G.I. Joe and Transformers, you’ll definitely want to watch them battle it out in Transformers vs. G.I. Joe!
