While it’s been reported for about a month that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson would play Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver, it wasn’t completely set in stone. Now, Marvel’s confirmed that the two actors will indeed be playing the superhero twins in Avengers: Age of Ultron! On a side note, both of them will also be co-starring in 2014’s movie reboot of Godzilla, so they’ll definitely develop some on-screen acting chemistry.
In the comics, Scarlet Witch uses magical hex powers and Quicksilver has superhuman speed abilities. They started off as villains in the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (back in 1964) and then later became Avengers.
Olsen, explaining her past movie credits in small indie dramas, joked, “Martha and Silent House, those were just jobs I got. The concept of ‘no’ wasn’t really in my vocabulary. After that I’ve just tried to change things up based on whatever I’m feeling in the mood for. That’s how I’ve been going along with it. I don’t have any super plan — I just plan it by ear all the time.”
As for how she feels about joining the mega popular Avengers series, Olsen isn’t necessarily feeling overconfident. After all, she believes fame is “something you could create or [lose]” and she explains, “I have some sort of confidence in feeling control of that for some reason. Maybe I shouldn’t. You see some actors do everything different, and I’ve admired the ones who have had some sort of anonymity between projects.”
