A second trailer has just been released for X-Men: Days of Future Past, the mega Marvel Comics flick that’s coming out on May 23, and it’s even more drool-worthy than the first one!
Based on the popular “Days of Future Past” storyline published in The Uncanny X-Men issues #141-142 back in 1980, the movie will feature the older Magneto (Ian McKellen) and Professor X (Patrick Stewart) going back in time to warn their younger selves about an apocalyptic future filled with mutant-hunting robot Sentinels. Of course, that proves challenging because the younger Professor X (James McAvoy) and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) are fighting each other, rather than being united against the robo army that Boliver Trask (Peter Dinklage) is working on.
Wolverine is sent back in time to stop Storm (Halle Berry) from dying at the hands of a Sentinel and prevent the mutants from going extinct. His task is made all the more difficult, however, by Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence), who’s gone full dark side. She hisses, “I know what I have to do. It’s us or them,” during the trailer, and you can just feel the anger in her voice.
All kinds of fiery explosions, magnetic flying, icy blasts, and lightning storms ignite the screen, as buildings crumble, Sentinels jet across the sky, and the huge ensemble cast grits their teeth for one of the most epic superhero movie events ever created. May can’t come soon enough!
