Serena Williams advances to US Open quarters

In the fourth round of the US Open, the top two American women, Serena Williams and Sloane Stephens, dueled in an intense 40-minute stretch. They sent balls flying at over 115 mph, dancing around the court with precise defensive and offensive movements. Stephens is one of only three players to have beaten No. 1 Williams this season, so expectations were high for the 20-year-old. Defending champion Williams took eight of the last nine games, brought her brutal tennis skills to the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows, and beat Stephens 6-4, 6-1. Even with her loss against 31-year-old Williams, the young Stephens looks to have a very bright future in the tennis world.
