Sonic the Hedgehog speeding to a TV near you

Everyone’s favorite speedy blur of blue fur is coming to Cartoon Network in his very own show! SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog will be dashing to the small screen in a computer graphics animated series next fall. Titled Sonic Boom (at least for now), there will be 52 11-minute episodes of the comedy aimed at kids ages 6-11. Tales will revolve around Sonic and… well… Tails, his sidekick, as they battle the evil Dr. Eggman.

“Sonic is the star of the SEGA universe and the stage is now set for him to shine like never before,” said Hiroyuki Miyazaki, SEGA’s chief content officer for Sonic. He believes that the new TV series will make sure “that the Sonic legacy will be introduced to a new generation of children across the globe.”

Now, this isn’t Sonic’s first crack at fame and fortune. He’s appeared in four TV series and over 70 video games that have sold more than 140 million copies! Most recently, he was featured in Sonic All-Stars Racing Transformed.
