This past May, director and sci-fi master J.J. Abrams was hard at work filming Star Wars: Episode VII in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. While he creates the next legendary film in a galaxy far, far away, Abrams is also promoting the Force for Change charity, where fans can donate money to children in need for a chance to appear in the movie. Now, Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o from 12 Years a Slave and Gwendoline Christie from Game of Thrones (GOT) have been announced as additions to the already stellar cast!
Christie, who is 6 ft. 3 in. tall and plays the honorable knight Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones, would definitely make a great Jedi. She can swing massive broadswords and sport stylish plate armor with the strongest warriors on the popular HBO show, and I for one would love to see her busting out some lightsaber skills on the screen.
Meanwhile, Nyong’o has incredible emotional power on the screen, and fans are wondering if Abrams plans on breaking the mold by having a female main character for the next three Star Wars films. Set to open on December 18, 2015, Episode VII is sure to become a mega hit. After all, look at what an amazing job Abrams did with Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness.
