Vader and Palpatine
Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader would have been pleased with the progress being made by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan.

Cue the Mos Eisley Cantina music, because the release of Star Wars: Episode VII is not in a galaxy far, far away.

Fans were worried that the movie would be delayed beyond the promised 2015 release, after the original screenwriter, Michael Arndt, was replaced by director J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (who co-wrote The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi for Lucasfilm).

Well, Darth Vader must’ve shown up to speed things along, because the movie makers seem to have doubled their efforts!

So, when exactly can the world’s spice smugglers,  Jedis, and Sith Lords expect to witness the glorious return of lightsabers and the Force? Episode VII is slated to debut on December 18, 2015!

Disney’s studio chief, Alan Horn, says, “We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday filmgoing season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture.” Roger Iger, CEO and Chairman of The Walt Disney Co, explained that the release date “is also the date Avatar opened in 2009” and believes this “is one of the most important movies we have in the next few years.”
