Force Awakens
Will the Resistance triumph against the First Order?

Nearly 40 years after filmmaker George Lucas unleashed Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope in 1977, creating one of the greatest science-fiction sagas of all time, Episode VII: The Force Awakens has shattered all box office records.

With a historic $248 million opening weekend that made the previous $208.8 million record from Jurassic World go extinct, audiences are donning their Jedi and Sith Lord costumes to fill theaters to the brim. It has made over $750 million and is barreling towards Avatar‘s #1 record of $2.78 billion.

Episode VII takes place three decades after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. Several classic characters make a return, like Jedi Master Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill), rogue smuggler Han Solo (Harrison Ford), and princess Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), along with newcomers such as scavenger Rey (Daisy Ridley), stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega), pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and Dark Side wielder Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).

Sporting a unique mix of computer-generated special effects, old-fashioned movie magic, plenty of action, and laugh-out-loud humor, Episode VII is pleasing critics and sci-fi fans across the globe. Even those who were disappointed by the prequels (Episodes I-III) are praising Star Trek director J.J. Abrams for making Star Wars great again. So, what’re you waiting for? Grab a lightsaber, holster that blaster, and hop into an X-Wing, because there are plenty of TIE Fighters and First Order villains waiting to take you on!
