What do you get when you mix Star Wars and the widely popular TV show The Big Bang Theory? Well, a lot of screaming fans and intergalactic fun! CBS and the company behind Star Wars, Lucasfilm, are joining forces for a special “out of this world” themed episode set to air May 4!
For those of you who aren’t too familiar with Jedi culture, every year, Star Wars fans celebrate May 4 with the traditional greeting “May the fourth be with you.” The line itself is a witty play on the famous quote “may the Force be with you” that’s commonly used throughout the saga. So, is there really any better way to celebrate than combining these two geek-tacular shows together?
With the help of Lucasfilm’s special effects technicians, they’re going to recreate Dagobah, the fictional planet of swamps and forests where the wise Jedi Master Yoda lived. If that’s not exciting, then how about this: actor Bob Newhart, who stars on The Big Bang Theory as Professor Proton, will surprise fans by appearing as an iconic Star Wars character.
“They’re excited about everything we’re doing, and they’re going to help us with the special effects,” said showrunner Steve Molaro. “Bob is going to be swinging a light saber around and they sent us a real one to use. They’re going to help make it look and sound right. It’s an amazing crossover for us.”
So, fire up those droids and blasters, because you won’t want to miss this one!
