Twitter announces a bully-free feature

Twitter announced a new feature that allows users to report offensive or threatening tweets more easily than before. The social media site already had a way to report them, but it needed several long steps to complete the report, which included calling a help center. The new “report abuse” feature is much easier to access and only takes seconds to press. It comes in the form of a small flag icon in the same area as the button to send a tweet. Del Harvey, the director of Twitter’s Trust and Safety division, believes that “people deserve to feel safe on [the site].” Another representative also said they wanted to send a clear message that mean behavior is not acceptable. The site is going to hire a bunch of new people just to handle these reports. Many of them are partnering with an organization that works to make technology a safe place for kids.
