The US rocked men’s ski slopestyle on Thursday at the Winter Olympics, as Joss Christensen scored 95.80 for a gold medal, Gus Kenworthy’s 93.60 took silver, and Nick Goepper landed a 92.40 bronze.
This is only the third time in history that Americans have completely swept a Winter Games event.
The American freeskiing slopestyle coach, Skogen Sprang, said, “It’s pretty amazing. I’m still kind of in shock.” Goepper was excited for the win, expressing, “Today was the best day for freeskiing, for a contest, ever. I couldn’t be happier.”
Christensen’s gold was the 4th one for the US at Sochi, all of which have been won on the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park slopes.
