Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has violated the league’s substance-abuse policy, not by testing positive for drug use, but by offering an impure sample for them to test. By trying to dodge around the policy, Von Miller has only drawn more attention to himself. Miller released a statement through the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), saying, “I made mistakes and my suspension has hurt my team, Broncos fans, and myself. I am especially sorry for the effect of my bad decisions on others. I will not make the same mistakes about adhering to the policy in the future. During my time off the field, I will work tirelessly and focus exclusively on remaining in peak shape.” Well, while it’s certainly not the kind of 200+ game suspension that A-Rod was handed down by the MLB, at least Von Miller and others like him in the NFL will think twice before dodging drug tests.
